Job Summary

The Production Lead / Electronic Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, inspecting, and testing electronic components and assemblies while ensuring compliance with Build-to-Print (BTP) documentation, quality standards, and safety requirements.

This position provides day-to-day leadership for production personnel by coordinating workflow, managing production schedules, training employees, and promoting adherence to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and workplace safety protocols. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

•    Demonstrates proficient knowledge of electronic assembly processes and Build-to-Print (BTP) documentation.

•    Reads and interprets technical drawings, work instructions, assembly procedures, and related manufacturing documentation to accurately assemble electronic components, subassemblies, and finished products.

•    Utilizes soldering techniques, hand tools, and manufacturing equipment to complete high-quality assemblies in accordance with company standards.

•    Performs detailed inspections of component installations, assemblies, and electrical circuits to ensure compliance with quality and performance specifications.

•    Conducts measurements and inspections of incoming components, as needed, to verify conformance with engineering and manufacturing requirements.

•    Coordinates daily production workflows, assigns tasks, and monitors employee progress to ensure production schedules and weekly demand requirements are met.

•    Develops, maintains, and adjusts production schedules to maximize efficiency while minimizing downtime and production delays.

•    Trains new employees on Build-to-Print (BTP) documentation, assembly procedures, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements, safety protocols, and quality standards.

•    Ensures team members consistently follow established procedures and job requirements to maintain personnel safety and protect sensitive electronic components.

•    Works effectively on the production line with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and quality standards.

•    Independently identifies and resolves routine and complex production issues, escalating highly technical or critical matters to management when necessary.

•    Serves as a technical resource and leader for production personnel by providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring.

•    Promotes continuous improvement, teamwork, and adherence to company policies and manufacturing best practices.

•    Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and applicable safety requirements.

•    Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities

•    Provides day-to-day direction and support to production personnel.

•    Coordinates employee assignments and production priorities based on workload and production requirements.

•    Monitors workflow and employee performance to support on-time completion of production requirements.

•    Provides training, coaching, and mentoring to new and existing employees.

•    Reinforces compliance with BTP documentation, quality standards, ESD requirements, safety procedures, and company policies.

•    Identifies production issues and communicates significant concerns to management.

•    Supports continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing efficiency efforts.

Required Qualifications

•    High school diploma or equivalent and/or technical training.

•    2+ years in electronic assembly, manufacturing, production, or a related technical field.

•    Proficient knowledge of electronic assembly processes and Build-to-Print (BTP) documentation.

•    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and assembly procedures.

•    Demonstrated ability to use soldering techniques, hand tools, measurement equipment, and manufacturing equipment.

•    Working knowledge of quality requirements, ESD practices, and workplace safety procedures.

•    Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize production activities.

•    Previous experience providing technical leadership, training, coaching, or supervision is preferred.

Physical Requirements

•    Ability to lift and move materials or assemblies weighing up to 25 lbs.

•    Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods during the workday.

•    Ability to use hand tools and perform repetitive assembly tasks.

•    Manual dexterity and ability to work with small electrical and mechanical components.

•    Ability to visually inspect components, wiring, solder joints, connectors, and completed assemblies; vision must be correctable to 20/20.

•    Ability to distinguish colors for proper identification of wires and components.

•    Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail while performing repetitive and highly detailed assembly work.

•    Ability to meet production schedules and deadlines while maintaining required quality standards.
