Customs Coordinator
The Customs Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating all customs-related and administrative activities associated with inbound goods. This role ensures that imported materials are cleared efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable customs regulations, while supporting uninterrupted logistics and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage customs clearance activities for inbound materials and goods.
- Prepare, review, and maintain all import and customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, customs declarations, and import licenses.
- Act as the primary point of contact with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and authorities for inbound shipments.
- Ensure timely clearance of goods to avoid delays, demurrage, or additional logistics costs.
- Monitor inbound shipment status and proactively resolve customs or documentation issues.
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of customs documentation and inbound transactions in ERP or customs systems.
- Support customs audits, internal controls, and regulatory reporting as required.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, and Finance teams to ensure accurate and complete inbound documentation.
- Verify customs duties, taxes, and import-related charges, supporting invoice validation and issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve inbound customs processes, documentation accuracy, and administrative efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in customs coordination, import administration, logistics, or trade compliance.
- Basic knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Experience working with ERP systems and customs or logistics platforms (e.g., SAP, customs clearance systems).
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial supply chain environment.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, HS classification, and customs valuation principles.
- Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Knowledge of international trade compliance and import/export regulations.
