Role Overview
The Dean of IT role is responsible for the overall direction, quality, and growth of the academic programs, overseeing faculty performance, research output, accreditation, and student success. The Dean ensures that the programs are continuously developed and maintained at a high standard of quality, in alignment with both the University's strategic objectives and the evolving requirements of the technology industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the academic programs, ensuring consistent academic quality and operational effectiveness.

  • Develop and implement academic strategies and plans that support the College's long-term growth and align with the University's institutional strategy.

  • Oversee faculty recruitment, performance management, and professional development to build and sustain a high-performing academic team.

  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and quality assurance standards across all academic programs.

  • Promote research, innovation, and collaboration with the technology industry to strengthen the College's academic and applied impact.

  • Enhance the student experience, academic quality, and graduate employability across all programs offered by the College.

  • Manage the College's budget and academic resources, ensuring effective and responsible allocation.

  • Represent the College in internal and external academic and professional engagements, acting as an ambassador for the institution.

Requirements

Education

  • Earned doctorate (PhD) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • An academic record (publications, research, and scholarly contributions) sufficient to hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive academic experience in higher education, including significant experience in an IT- or computing-related discipline.

  • At least 5 years in a senior academic leadership role, such as Dean, Associate/Vice Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director.

  • Demonstrated experience leading curriculum design, program development, and academic quality initiatives.

  • Proven track record of managing faculty performance, recruitment, and professional development.

  • Experience navigating institutional and program accreditation processes (e.g., NCAAA, ABET, or equivalent international bodies).

  • Experience managing academic budgets and resource planning at a departmental or college level.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of the Saudi higher education landscape and alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 priorities for technology and education.

  • Working knowledge of current and emerging trends in IT, computer science, and related technology fields, and their relevance to curriculum and workforce needs.

  • Excellent strategic planning, organizational, and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate faculty and staff and manage change effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the College credibly to internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners and accreditation bodies.

  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Arabic is preferred.

  • Commitment to fostering student success, research culture, and industry engagement within the College.
