Schedule: Monday, Saturday, and Sunday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Tuesday and Wednesday: 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM

About the Role

Food Service Workers perform a variety of food service tasks in the areas of meal assembly and service, dishwashing, sanitation and safety. The tasks are generally routine manual tasks that require medium physical effort and are related to the preparation and service of food. In the area of food preparation, they clean areas for the receipt, storage and preparation of food, wash pots and pans, sterilize food sample jars, put food deliveries into storage areas and carry food to preparation areas as required. They may also clean fruits, vegetables and potatoes for cooking and do simple grill type cooking as required. In the area of food service, they set and wait on tables, serve food into proper portions, serve special food to those on modified diets, make toast, coffee, tea and salads and may record the number of meals served. They also clean dining room and service areas, wash dining room furniture, windows and woodwork, use dishwashing machines to wash dishes and serving utensils and take inventory of supplies and requisition and store them as necessary.

Primary Responsibilities

• Washes refrigerators and other equipment by hand or with pressure cleaning equipment using a variety of cleaning substances.
• Cleans loading dock areas, garbage cans, storage areas, food preparation areas and general kitchen area including floors, ceilings and walls using mops, scrub brushes and other equipment as necessary.
• Washes pots, pans and other utensils by hand and machine.
• Receives and stores deliveries in appropriate storage areas.
• Rotates the food that is in storage.
• Brings food and other supplies to preparation and serving areas as directed.
• Cleans fruits, vegetables and potatoes in preparation for cooking as directed.
• Cooks grill-type foods such as hamburgers, eggs, etc.
• Serves food in the proper portions to residents.
• Ensures those residents on special diets receive proper food and portions.
• Makes toast, coffee, tea and salads as necessary.
• Records number of meals served.
• Cleans dining room and service areas including furniture, woodwork, windows, floors and steam tables.
• Washes dishes and serving utensils by machine and hand.
• Inventories requisitions and stores supplies as necessary.
• Other duties reasonably related to the job, as assigned.
