Join our Fastening Systems team! Howmet Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer in our Fullerton, CA location. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will design, build, and validate tooling for coldstamping stainlesssteel (A286) parts, ensuring highquality production and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Design, build, and validate tooling for coldstamping stainlesssteel (A286) parts.
  • Run processcontrol studies to set optimal machine parameters and create standard procedures.
  • Use AutoCAD/SolidWorks to produce tooling drawings, BOMs, and technical specs.
  • Analyze part progressions with simulation (e.g., DEFORM) and adjust designs.
  • Work with toolroom machinists to prototype, test, and refine tooling.
  • Monitor operations, enforce quality & safety standards, and resolve workinprocess issues.
  • Working hours may exceed a 40-hour week as required.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing/tooling design experience in aerospace, automotive, medical, or related highvolume manufacturing environments.
  • SolidWorks (or comparable CAD) proficiency.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Syteline, Oracle, QAD) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection skills.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Toolroom machine experience (lathes, mills, screw machines).
  • Background in metalforming industry.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and a track record of measurable improvements.

  • Need to be able to wear safety steel toe shoes and walk around at shop floor environment as needed.
