Role Overview

The Accountant is a highly skilled individual who will own general accounting and corporate tax functions for a competitive automation organization. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, exceptional communication skills and the ability to partner closely with FP&A, Finance and Accounting teams to support general accounting functions and corporate tax reporting.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

General Accounting Responsibilities

  • Intercompany AR/AP monthly reconciliations

  • Support the general ledger and trial balance, ensuring accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial data

  • Perform journal entry preparation and posting

  • Ensure proper classification and accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and analysis (JSOX, Hitachi, and EY auditing)

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting standards

  • Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve variances

  • Coordinate financial close activities across multiple entity leads to meet reporting deadlines

Tax Functions and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end reconciliation of all general ledger balance sheet tax accounts.

  • Oversee sales and use tax obligations across the North American entities and complete timely filings

  • Annual Filings Business tax, Registrations and Good Standing

  • Avalara maintenance – exemption, certificate& registration status

  • Oversee property tax filings and compliance with local regulations.

  • Maintain monthly accruals and yearly returns. (PPT and BPPT)

  • Government Tax Reporting; Dept of Labor and Bureau Economic Activity

  • Maintain relationship with Hitachi America Limited(HAL) and complete necessary tax support

  • Cross Boarder Transaction – supporting Finance teams and HAL reporting

  • Maintain VAT/GST/HST activities

  • Support quarterly, annual and ad hoc audits. (Income tax driven, DTA DTL, R&D items tied to HAL SOW)

Scope & Impact:

  • Experience supporting project-based billing or contract-driven revenue environments

  • Proven ability to enforce policies while maintaining positive business relationships

  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective management and organizational skills

  • High attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture

  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • 6-8 years of progressive accounting and tax experience

  • Experience in a large, multi-entity organization

  • ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Epicor, EcoSys or similar)

  • Experience partnering closely with tax reporting agencies

  • Proficient user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
