SUMMARY

The VRV/VRF Technical Field Supervisor provides technical support and direction for the Service field, Account Managers, and owner direct customers. Provides field and sales technical support. Dual focus in assisting with supervisory responsibilities and setting performance standards and processes. This is a critical role for the development and support of the Service team:

  • Responsible for partnering with Area Service Manager(s) to assist in supervising HVAC Field Service Technicians who accomplish the repair/retrofit/replacement of VRV/F systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts.
  • Performs the role of VRV/VRF Field Technician; directly contributes to completion of service work and projects through Service Technician responsibilities. Directly accomplishes repair/retrofit/replacement of systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial VRV HVAC service work/projects with a minimum of 5 years relating directly to operation processes of installation and service of HVAC equipment and systems. Team lead or leadership experience is preferred but not required. Proven history of positive impact on peers, team, and customers through effective work, teamwork mentality, and earned respect.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for meeting assigned applied time metrics, specifically for a Team Leader role. Contributes as a technician directly when appropriate; sets a good example.  
  • Communicates directly to the Area Service Manager(s) when a specific technician is struggling or not performing at the expected level of their role.
  • Works alongside Field Supervisors and coaches other VRV technicians to provide them constructive feedback on improvement while holding them accountable.
  • Responsible for training and developing VRV Field Technicians, including but not limited to technical knowledge, customer service, processes, and quality of work.
  • Acts as a resource for VRV Field Technicians by providing technical advice and offering guidance. Provide technical support and assistance.
  • Ensures the quality of work by reviewing the technician's work. Provides quality assurance for job efficiency and readiness.
  • Provides technical support for complex issues, either troubleshooting the system or equipment with Technicians.
  • Develops VRV processes which are needed to support the services we provide to our customers.
  • Helps to enrich and develop Service Apprentices and mechanics through training, technical support, and direction.
  • Assists Service Coordinators in scheduling and organizing.
  • Upholds a high level of quality for Havtech's customers, for both professional communication and high-quality technical service. Represents the company by serving as a direct customer contact.
  • Serves customers by acting as a resource in answering inquires and responding to special or urgent requests.
  • Acts as project manager on labor-intensive projects or service.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and repairs equipment at a customer's location.
  • Supports preventative maintenance work and maintaining equipment by inspecting for signs of wear, scheduling, and completing relevant work.
  • Supports preparation for on-site installations and repairs by working with ASM(s) and Service Team to examine building layout, anticipate difficulties, gather materials, and coordinate on-site work as necessary.
  • Supports VRV process compliance by monitoring completed paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
  • Supports connected service platforms for ongoing development and technical support and development.
  • Consolidates reference information by collecting, organizing, and assembling data for reports, presentations, and special projects.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools and reads schematics or engineering specifications. Uses power tools and computers.
  • Evaluates area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to service technicians and assists in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.
  • Assist with on-site meetings and project walkthroughs.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
  • Regular local travel requirements with some overnight travel.


SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of an individual contributor and partners with the Area Service Manager(s) to assist in supervising the HVAC Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and managing work; appraising performance, addressing complaints, coaching and mentoring employees; and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS/ CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related industry experience required. Five years of advanced commercial HVAC service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in HVAC required.
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of operational processes associated with the installation and service of commercial HVAC services and systems.
  • The ability to work successfully within a fast-paced, schedule-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong, professional communication skills.
  • The ability to present technical ideas and concepts clearly to customers and other Service Technicians.
  • Knowledge of service standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and meet both short- and long-term deadlines.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and able to function and work in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to cope with stress and deliver exceptional customer service.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. On occasion, lift and/or move more than 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Posted pay range reflects local union Journeyman Scale rate. Pay will be based on experience level in accordance with Union, Benefits are provided through local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
