Federal Way Audiology is a growing, independently owned private audiology practice located in Federal Way, Washington. Position Overview
Federal Way Audiology is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic 4th-year Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) extern for the 2027–2028 academic year. The extern will work closely with our audiologist and experienced support staff while gaining extensive hands-on experience in a busy private practice setting. This position provides increasing independence throughout the year while ensuring appropriate supervision and mentorship.
Externship Opportunities Include
Comprehensive audiologic evaluations
Diagnostic vestibular testing, including VNG and balance assessments
Hearing aid evaluations, fittings, verification, and follow-up care with major manufacturers
Hearing aid troubleshooting, programming, repairs, and counseling
Tinnitus evaluations and counseling
Cerumen management
Patient counseling and individualized treatment planning
Insurance verification, documentation, and exposure to private practice operations
Collaboration with referring physicians and other healthcare providers
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program
Completion of all academic coursework prior to the externship start date
Strong clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills
Professionalism, dependability, and a positive attitude
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
Passion for delivering outstanding patient-centered care and eagerness to learn
