We are seeking Montenegrin Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Montenegrin, part of the South Slavic language group, is a rare Balkan language needed in immigration and asylum interviews.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Montenegrin ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
- Interpret accurately, neutrally, and professionally in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
- Adhere to USCIS/DHS confidentiality and interpreter ethics standards.
- Handle both scheduled and urgent/surge assignments.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Montenegrin and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, community, or government preferred).
- Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
- Strong telephone communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
