Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes/RHEL

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 years relevant experience.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

 

The Senior Software Engineer - Submarine Combat Systems, will be responsible for forward-looking development of software and infrastructure architecture deployable into a Linux-based Common Computing Environment (CCE) PaaS.  The candidate will also be responsible for improving the software and infrastructure build process along with setup and configuration of hardware/software test environments, managing and coordinating external communications, and team leadership.

 

Essential Capabilities (Required):

• Success architecting infrastructure within the SWFTS environment, engaging and coordinating with key stakeholders
• Experience integrating containerized software applications in Kubernetes or another container runtime
• Advanced troubleshooting techniques for isolation of software, infrastructure, and systems-level problems, including on products not developed by your team or contract
• Experience with automated testing for deploying and managing custom containerized applications and open-source tools and components.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles in the development of prototype and production software products

Desired Capabilities:

• Experience with Ansible IaC, Java Spring Boot, Python, Kubernetes
• Experience generating Docker container files from scratch
• Experience with Bash scripting
• Previous or current leadership role(s) within an integrated product team structure
• Understanding of cluster networking and design capabilities

In-depth experience of two or more from the below list:

• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience with Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

 

Workplace Options:This position is flex on-site. While on-site you will be part of the GDMS Ashton Avenue Manassas facility. 

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $149,902.00 - USD $166,298.00 /Yr.
