About this role
Overview
Overview
At Gallagher Centre of Excellence, you'll help model catastrophe loss potential for insurance and reinsurance portfolios. You'll work with colleagues in India and the US to prepare data, check exposures, and turn model results into clear summaries.
The work changes often. So you'll need to learn quickly, stay organised, and adapt when priorities shift. You'll be part of a team that supports global service, regulatory needs, and quicker turnaround for clients.
How You’ll Make an Impact
You'll prepare and clean data so it can be used in catastrophe models. That means checking records, tidying spreadsheets, and using SQL and Excel to help keep the inputs accurate. You'll also help geocode exposures, apply model settings, and run analysis that shows possible loss outcomes.
You'll turn results into clear reports, maps, and summaries that others can use to make decisions. You'll also work with lead analysts, share progress, ask for feedback, and help keep work moving across locations and time zones.
About You
Here's what you'll bring to the role:
- You can explain technical ideas in simple English, in writing and in conversation.
- You’re comfortable using Excel and SQL to clean, check, and organise data.
- You can spot errors, compare results, and keep detail in view.
- You can work with changing deadlines and keep tasks moving.
- You’re comfortable learning new tools, models, and ways of working.
- You can work well with colleagues across locations and share updates clearly.
- You have studied, or can show practical ability in, a quantitative subject such as maths, statistics, economics, engineering, or a related area.
- It would help if you know about catastrophe modelling, insurance, reinsurance terms, GIS tools, or basic coding such as Python, R, or Matlab.
- If you’ve followed a different route, that’s fine too, as long as you can show the skills needed for the work.
