Job DetailsJob Location: Myton, UT 84052Reporting directly to the Midstream Foreman, the Lead Midstream Operator supports safe, reliable operations of gas and water facilities and pipelines in Myton, Utah. In addition to performing the full duties of a Midstream Operator, this position provides day-to-day field leadership without direct supervisory responsibility. The Lead Midstream Operator communicates priorities to the team, helps coordinate work, provides technical guidance and coaching, and serves as the primary point of communication between operators and the Midstream Foreman.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Abide by all health, environmental, and safety programs and policies
Provide day-to-day field leadership and help the team safely and effectively execute operating priorities, without direct supervisory responsibility
Serve as the primary point of communication between Midstream Operators and the Midstream Foreman; communicate field conditions, work status, staffing or coverage needs, and issues requiring escalation
Communicate daily priorities, coordinate work activities and operator coverage, and help keep the team aligned on schedules, procedures, and operational goals
Lead by example and provide technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on mentoring to Midstream Operators on safe work practices, procedures, troubleshooting, and equipment operation
Support onboarding and field training of new operators and help identify team training or development needs for discussion with the Midstream Foreman
Facilitate effective shift handoffs and team communication to ensure continuity of operations, awareness of changing conditions, and timely follow-through on open items
Assist with coordinating response to operational upsets, emergencies, callouts, and other field priorities; promptly escalate significant safety, environmental, equipment, or production concerns to the Midstream Foreman
Promote teamwork, accountability, and consistent application of company procedures; address routine field questions and elevate personnel or performance matters to the Midstream Foreman
Day-to-day operation of gas facilities and discharge pigging, including maintenance and construction functions
Perform minor maintenance of compressors, engines, pumps, controls, pipelines, and valves
Generate and review daily production reports, including liquid production, gas and water production volumes, and downtime; communicate material variances or concerns
Test product samples and make adjustments to preserve product quality and proper specifications
Coordinate and oversee the transfer of liquid products into trucks and/or pipelines
Provide coverage during vacation for other Midstream Operators as needed
Adhere to and reinforce all applicable County, State, and Federal regulations
Assist with RMP compliance and record keeping. Coordinate and document annual inspections, emission tests
Oversee and maintain compressor station inventory of all filters, oil and chemical, restock as necessary
Help generate and update SOP’s, assist in training in accordance with RMP standards
Be knowledgeable in P&ID’s, update and redline when any changes occur
Help Midstream Foreman oversee any onsite work, verify all LOTO, energy isolation, all required documentation is completed before any work takes place

Qualifications
Education, Skills and Experience Required
Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
5+ years of experience in gas compressor facilities and pipeline systems operations; prior lead, mentoring, or training experience, Ariel and Cat training preferred
Advanced working knowledge of midstream facilities, pipelines, equipment, operating procedures, and safe work practices
Ability to execute and guide others through startup, shutdown, and operating procedures for gas compressors, screw compressors, electric motors, fans, instrumentation, valves, and alarms
Strong background in various SCADA applications and the ability to diagnose issues remotely
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build team alignment, provide constructive guidance, and earn trust without formal supervisory authority
Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly relay priorities, operating conditions, expectations, and concerns between the field team and the Midstream Foreman
Sound judgment and the ability to prioritize work, coordinate resources, resolve routine operating issues, and recognize when escalation is required
Must have the ability and willingness to work extended hours and weekends if needed
Proven record of working independently under little direct supervision
Must be a team player and possess the ability to work cooperatively with other teams
Good driving record and a current driver’s license
Safety-sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol screening
Strong organizational, coaching, and problem-solving skills
Must demonstrate a strong desire to apply innovative ideas in the field
Physical Requirements
Must be able to react to potentially dangerous situations quickly and appropriately
Standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, visual acuity, hearing, speaking
Must be able to climb 15 foot high ladders and stairwells
Must be able to change a flat tire or chain up tires in adverse weather conditions
Environmental Conditions
Works outdoors approximately 95% of the time
Works indoors in office approximately 5% of the time
May be exposed to and must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions (snow, rain, ice, wind, heat, flooding, etc.)
May be exposed to constant noise, H2S fumes (less than 10 ppm), and high pressure natural gas
