Description

Job Summary: The Bed Planning and Flow Coordination Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the bed planning coordinator and patient flow coordinator nursing personnel within the Capacity Command Center. This role involves planning and organizing training for unit staff members, participating in guidance and educational programs, and being actively involved in the hiring process. The lead is also responsible for evaluating and ensuring the ongoing performance of patient flow command center staff. As the first line of escalation for patient placement and flow issues across all Emory healthcare hospitals, the supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient operations Job Duties: 1. Supervision and Leadership of Staff: - Supervising and coordinating the activities of bed planning and patient flow coordinators to ensure optimal bed utilization and patient flow across the health system. - Providing real-time feedback and monitoring staff performance to support professional growth and adherence to departmental processes and procedures. - Ensuring the accurate and efficient use of electronic patient flow applications and tools to support capacity data integrity and patient flow management. 2. Effective Collaboration and Communication: - Collaborating with the Acute transport coordination and transfer services leaders to ensure a seamless experience for referring callers, accepting providers, and clinical staff who receive the patient. - Communicating effectively with various stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to address patient placement needs and resolve issues. - Participating in professional development activities and staying informed about current trends and practices in patient flow and bed management. 3. Mastery of job skills - Day to day operations performed by Bed planning and patient flow coordinators - Utilizing advanced clinical knowledge and department protocols to prioritize patient placement and manage bed assignments under both normal and surge capacity conditions. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing 2. Experience: Three years of recent (within the past five years) intensive care nursing experience that includes supervision and patient bed placement. 3. Certifications/Licensure: Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. Preferred Qualifications: - Strong clinical critical thinking skills. - Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work well under pressure and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment. - Proficiency in using patient flow software and dashboards. Work Environment: 1. This position operates in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. 2. The role may require occasional travel to healthcare facilities. Physical Requirements: 1. Ability to sit for extended periods. 2. Ability to use a computer and other standard office equipment. 3. Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.
