Overview

The Auburn University College of Human Sciences Harris Early Learning Center in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking an Administrative Support Associate I or II. This position provides administrative, financial, and general clerical support within the Center and is responsible for a broad range of office support duties and tasks. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can provide excellent organizational and administrative support to help advance the important work of the Harris Early Learning Center.


Responsibilities

  • Performs office support tasks including but not limited to correspondence, filing, calendar management, event scheduling, answering phones, organizing and ordering supplies, website updates, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Performs duties which may include but are not limited to data gathering, data input, and data management. Generates and creates reports as needed.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for HELC. Answer basic inquiries via email and phone and directs calls and forwards emails as needed.
  • Maintains HELC safety and security procedures while stationed at the front desk. Ensure that all visitors have been adequately screened and monitor the doors for any safety concerns.  
  • Maintains student and employee files as specified by NAEYC standards, DHR standards, and HELC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains record and ensures all documents are updated as required (CPR, health screenings, immunization records, medication forms etc).
  • Provides classroom coverage as needed to ensure proper ratios and care of HELC students

 

Candidates must be cleared to work with young children including passing all background checks including finger printing, CA/N, and the Auburn University background check. Employees must also be cleared by a physician to work directly with children.


Qualifications

Level I:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in clerical and administrative support services

Level II:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in clerical and administrative support services

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE:

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
