About this role
The Alabama 4-H AmeriCorps Member serves with Alabama 4-H through the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) to expand access to high-quality, research-based positive youth development programming in high-need schools and communities across Alabama. Members deliver educational experiences that promote
academic achievement, civic engagement, leadership development, and workforce readiness for youth in grades 4–12.
Through direct service, members help increase access to 4-H enrichment opportunities, STEM education, career exploration, and other evidence-based youth development programs in communities where these resources are limited or not currently available. Members collaborate with local schools, community organizations, volunteers, and Extension professionals to strengthen youth outcomes and build local capacity for sustainable programming. This position provides a meaningful opportunity to serve Alabama communities while gaining professional
experience in education, youth development, and public service.

Responsibilities
Provides direct service by delivering 4-H programming in school-day and after-school settings. Programming areas may include STEM, agriculture, environmental education, healthy living, civic engagement, leadership development, and workforce readiness.
• Facilitates hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that build essential life skills such as communication,
teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, and digital literacy.
• Collaborates with County 4-H Extension Agents, County Extension Directors, educators, and community
partners to implement programs aligned with community priorities.
• Recruits and engages youth participants, supports volunteer involvement, and helps strengthen partnerships
between schools and communities.
• Assists with program data collection and reporting to ensure compliance with AmeriCorps requirements and
to measure program impact.
• Supports 4-H events, service-learning projects, summer programming, and other local or statewide initiatives
that enhance youth engagement.
