Overview

CVP is seeking Registered Nurses to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with high-quality care services at the Dayton VA Medical Center located at 4100 W Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428. This team of RNs will be working in Community Care within Patient Business Services. The primary responsibiliy of this unit is to process consults/referrals and requests for services. 

 

Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Provide indirect nursing care, by contributing to the patient’s assessment, determining priorities, identifying nursing measures and therapeutic objectives and evaluating outcomes.
  • Obtain patient history and pertinent family history.
  • Assess patient and plan appropriate nursing care.
  • Document plan of care and care given in patient’s medical record.
  • Verify transcription of physician’s orders, no verbal orders are to be accepted.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to charge nurse and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Reassess patient’s condition and revise plans of care based on identified nursing problem.
  • Consistently, apply VA customer service standards, demonstrating helpful, courteous, and respectful conduct at all times
  • Respect patient’s rights, including but not limited to visual and auditory privacy.

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance; US Citizenship is required
  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at the time the program was completed; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN); licensure in any US state or territory will be considered, however Ohio licensure must be obtained prior to start date
  • Minimum of one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years; VA experience is preferred
  • Experience in one or more of the following specialty areas is preferred: Primary Care, Community Care, or Medical-Surgical
  • Current BLS certification from an American Heart Association-approved vendor
  • Current ACLS certification from an American Heart Association-approved vendor
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; training on VA-specific systems including VistA and CPRS will be provided upon onboarding
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, hospital policies and procedures, and clinical documentation standards
