About this role
We are looking for a talented Accountant - Senior to join our team, specialising in Statutory Accounting within our Global Centre of Accounting organisation in Darlington, United Kingdom.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Lead accounting activities for corporate holding companies, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and governance across multiple legal entities.
- Drive the standardisation and optimisation of accounting processes, improving efficiency, consistency, and control across global operations.
- Lead statutory reporting activities across multiple countries, ensuring all regulatory filing obligations are met accurately and on time.
- Act as a trusted subject matter expert, providing technical accounting guidance on complex reporting, audit, regulatory, and compliance matters.
- Strengthen the organisation's control environment by leading internal control compliance activities and identifying opportunities for risk mitigation.
- Partner with senior leaders, external auditors, tax teams, legal teams, and service providers to deliver successful outcomes in a complex international environment.
- Lead cross-functional transformation initiatives, supporting automation, operating model improvements, and global finance standardisation efforts.
- Contribute to the future of the Global Centre of Accounting by driving capability building, continuous improvement, and scalable statutory accounting practices.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Strong expertise in statutory accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience with adjustments & conversions within UK-to-US GAAP.
- The ability to analyse complex accounting issues, exercise sound professional judgement, and provide practical solutions to stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and collaborate effectively across global teams.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with experience driving process optimisation, standardisation, automation, and transformation initiatives.
- Some 'Big 4' and audit experience would be highly beneficial.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Significant experience in accounting, financial reporting, statutory reporting, audit, or related finance disciplines within a complex global organisation.
- Experience working with accounting standards, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and multinational legal entity structures is highly desirable.
