Neuropsychiatry Clinical Research Professional

Job Summary:

The Research Services Professional will provide direct scientific and research support to the Neuromodulation Chair and Neuromodulation Research within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The program conducts innovative clinical and translational research using noninvasive neuromodulation and neuroimaging approaches, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI/MRI), neuronavigation, behavioral and clinical assessments, and related neuroscience methods to investigate brain circuitry and develop novel interventions for psychiatric and related conditions.

Working directly with the Neuromodulation Chair and collaboratively with faculty investigators, research staff, clinicians, trainees, and institutional research partners, this position will support the implementation and conduct of neuromodulation research studies. Responsibilities will include research protocol implementation, human-subjects research activities, participant-facing research procedures, TMS and neuroimaging research coordination, regulatory documentation, study start-up and maintenance, research equipment and laboratory operations, scientific documentation, and support for grants, manuscripts, and other scholarly activities. This position is intended to provide broad research support to the Chair’s scientific portfolio and the developing Neuromodulation Research Program rather than specializing in quantitative data analytics.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO. This position is expected to work primarily on-site at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus due to participant-facing and laboratory-based research responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, nursing, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical, military, or paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

  • An advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience conducting or supporting human-subjects research in an academic medical center, university, healthcare, or clinical research environment.

• Experience with neuroscience, psychiatry, neuromodulation, neuroimaging, or related clinical/translational research especially with psychiatric symptom assessments and diagnoses.

• Experience with TMS, neuronavigation, MRI/fMRI research, or other neuroscience research technologies and procedures.

• Experience with IRB submissions, regulatory documentation, informed consent, participant recruitment, and/or clinical research study coordination.

• Experience contributing to research protocols, grant applications, manuscripts, presentations, or other scientific activities.

• Clinical research or related experience.

• Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems).

• Must be willing and able to work in MRI, TMS, clinical research, and laboratory environments and comply with applicable safety requirements.

• Must complete and maintain required institutional training, including human-subjects protection, research compliance, MRI safety, TMS safety, and protocol-specific training.

• Occasional early morning, evening, or other schedule flexibility may be required to accommodate participant research visits and study activities.

• Must maintain confidentiality of participant information and comply with applicable institutional privacy, information security, and research requirements.

• Occasional travel may be required for research meetings, training, conferences, or collaborative activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Human-subjects research: Knowledge of or ability to apply principles and requirements governing human-subjects and clinical research, including protocol adherence, informed consent, research documentation, and participant protection.

• Research implementation: Ability to learn and consistently implement complex scientific protocols, research procedures, and standard operating procedures with accuracy and attention to detail.

• Neuromodulation and neuroscience: Knowledge of or demonstrated interest in neuroscience, neuroimaging, neuromodulation, psychiatry, or related biomedical research and ability to develop technical proficiency with specialized research methods and equipment.

• Organization and problem-solving: Ability to manage multiple research activities and participant schedules, identify operational or protocol issues, exercise appropriate professional judgment, and escalate complex matters when necessary.

• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with research participants, faculty investigators, clinicians, research staff, trainees, and institutional partners.

• Collaboration and customer service: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution and provide outstanding customer service to research participants and collaborators.

• Professional accountability: Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, discretion, adaptability, and commitment to research integrity, participant safety, confidentiality, and high-quality scientific work.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $49,899 - $63,472.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
