About this role

Core Government Services company is looking for a licensed Lead Critical Infrastructure Electrician to maintain and support power distribution systems at the VA Capital Region Readiness Center (CRRC) in Martinsburg, WV.

The Electrician will be on-site Monday through Friday during standard business hours (with emergency response availability) to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repairs on critical electrical infrastructure including Square D switchgear, emergency generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), UPS systems, and power distribution units (PDUs).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complete inspection, preventive maintenance, repair, and modification of high-reliability medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
  • Maintain and service Square D switchgear, circuit breakers, remote power panels (RPPs), PDUs, static transfer switches, battery strings, and transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS).
  • Serve as one of the required certified leads during dual-person energized work, switching procedures, paralleling operations, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) evolutions.
  • Perform infrared thermographic inspections, torque checks, and circuit breaker testing in compliance with ANSI/NETA MTS standards and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Coordinate with generator technicians and OEM specialists on emergency diesel generator maintenance (MTU and John Deere sets up to 2,250 kW), ATS cycling, and load bank testing.
  • Accurately interpret electrical blueprints, single-line diagrams, ladder logic schematics, and manufacturer technical manuals.
  • Document all maintenance actions, test measurements, and parts replacements in the CMMS.
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S and NFPA 70E safety standards, wearing appropriate PPE for all arc flash boundaries.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Active State-issued Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
  • Minimum five (5) continuous years of documented journeyman-level experience in the maintenance, testing, and inspection of electrical power distribution systems in data centers, healthcare, industrial, or commercial facilities.
  • Documented and current NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace training and OSHA 10-Hour Construction/General Industry Safety Certification.
  • Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting skills on complex commercial/industrial electrical power and control circuits.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in elevated areas, and wear arc-flash protective gear.
  • Ability to pass a federal background check (e-QIP / SF-85P) and receive a VA PIV badge.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior experience working in a Tier III/IV data center or secure Federal Government enterprise data facility.
  • Experience with Square D / Schneider Electric equipment, PowerLogic power meters, and CM3000/CM4000 circuit monitors.
  • NETA (InterNational Electrical Testing Association) or NICET certification.
  • Factory training on uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems (e.g., MGE Galaxy series) and emergency generator control systems.

Working Conditions: Inside Government 24/7/365 mission-critical data center and utility plant facilities in Martinsburg, WV. 

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 0800–1630, with 24/7 on-call escalation availability for emergencies and major maintenance evolutions.

Required Travel: Minimal (<5%)

Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (SCA-aligned / Prevailing Wage Determination applicable)

Contract Length: 5-Year Multi-Year BPA / Base Period + Option Years
