Staff Software Engineer - Biller Workflows

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience to set the technical direction for Commure's biller-workflow platform — the frontend and backend architecture that multiple teams build on. You'll lead a generational rebuild of the highest-traffic surfaces in our practice management product, shaping how hundreds of thousands of billers interact with claims, appointments, and payments every day.

What will you be doing?

Setting the technical direction for the biller-workflow platform across multiple teams — defining frontend/backend architecture, component conventions, API contracts, and observability practices

Leading the hardest cross-cutting problems end to end: data-dense tables at scale, bulk operations over tens of thousands of records, and a unified claim activity timeline

Embedding AI where it removes real friction — claim comparison, submission-error reasoning, and rule suggestions — without over-relying on LLMs

Driving engineering excellence through architecture reviews, deep code review, and mentorship that levels up engineers across teams

Owning reliability and performance in production — render/query performance, replica-lag handling, and claim-submission pipeline health

Key Requirements

8+ years building large-scale, full-stack applications with a track record of setting technical direction across multiple teams

Deep expertise in TypeScript/React, Python, and PostgreSQL — able to diagnose and fix React rendering bottlenecks in complex, data-dense UIs

Org-wide frontend leadership experience — orchestrating adoption of a design system or shared component architecture across a large engineering organization

Proven ability to lead multi-month, multi-team platform rebuilds or migrations, shipping incrementally without breaking users

Strong API and data-layer design skills — REST endpoints handling filtering, grouping, and pagination over large datasets with optimized queries
