America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

Clocks horse  workout time during Thoroughbred training hours

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Available in the clocker's stand during training hours each day to time horses working out.
  • Coordinates with trainers, exercise riders and spotters in correctly identifying each horse that works.
  • Provides a detailed sheet of workouts following training hours, including the distance and intensity of the work as well as if the work was performed breaking from the starting gate.
  • Faxes workouts each day to the Daily Racing Form and Equibase and posts for the public by the horsemen.
  • Inputs information in the Incompass system for each horse.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be 21 years old and able to obtain a Racing License from Louisiana Racing Commission. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
