About this role

About Catalyx Space:
Catalyx Space is building large-scale re-entry systems for returning payloads from Low Earth Orbit. We design and develop large-scale hypersonic decelerators and re-entry vehicles that provide reliable, high-capacity down-mass from LEO.

Role:
As Engineering Program Manager at Catalyx Space, you will own the integrated schedule across avionics, structures, mechanisms, aerothermal, systems, and test, and run the weekly cadence that keeps forty engineers moving toward one vehicle on one date. You will be the source of truth on program status for leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain the integrated master schedule across all subsystems, with a clear critical path to every major milestone
  • Map and track dependencies between teams (design freeze, procurement, build, integration, test), including long-lead items, vendor deliveries, and test facility bookings, and flag slips before they hit the schedule
  • Run the weekly engineering review (progress against commitments, blockers, actions, escalations) and maintain the program risk register with an owner and mitigation for each risk
  • Manage change control across subsystems so design changes are reflected in schedule and risk
  • Report milestone status and forecast dates, with assumptions, to leadership
  • Set up and maintain lightweight program tracking tools that engineers actually use

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline
  • 8–12 years in hardware engineering, with at least 5 years running an integrated program with multiple subsystem owners
  • Background in spacecraft, launch vehicles, re-entry systems, UAVs, defense systems, automotive NPD, or similar complex electromechanical hardware
  • Proven ability to build an integrated schedule from first principles, not just maintain an existing one
  • Experience tracking long-lead procurement, vendor deliveries, and test campaigns against a hardware milestone
  • Experience running structured engineering reviews, driving actions to closure, and maintaining a risk register on a hardware program
  • Flexibility to support extended hours or weekend work during critical integration or test phases

Nice to have:
  • Experience at ISRO, DRDO, HAL, a defense prime, or a new-space startup
  • Have taken hardware through a full design–build–test–fly (or ship) cycle
  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices (requirements, interface control, verification)
  • Experience with Asana, Jira, MS Project, or similar program tools
  • Comfortable holding senior engineers to commitments and escalating when needed
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, test-driven environment

Compensation & benefits:
  • Competitive salary (details will be shared with shortlisted candidates)
  • Health insurance
  • Provident fund
