About this role

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of HVAC, refrigeration, and related building systems throughout the casino property. This role performs both scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs on critical facility equipment to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for guests and team members. The HVAC Technician utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to complete work orders, document repairs, and support ongoing facility operations.

This role operates on a Monday through Friday, day-shift schedule, with an expectation to be available for on-call emergency response outside of regular working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems.

  • Diagnose and repair refrigeration rack systems, chillers, boilers, air handling units, cooling towers, pumps, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and associated mechanical equipment.

  • Install new HVAC and refrigeration equipment, replacement parts, and system upgrades in accordance with manufacturer specifications, state and local codes, and established safety standards.

  • Identify equipment failures, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Complete assigned work orders and preventive maintenance tasks through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair systems.

  • Operate and monitor Energy Management Systems (EMS), including Metasys or similar building automation systems.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment performance.

  • Determine materials, tools, and supplies required to complete assigned tasks.

  • Coordinate with Facilities management and other departments to minimize operational disruptions and ensure timely completion of repairs.

  • Provide maintenance support in other facility-related trades as needed, including basic electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.

  • May assist in training, directing, or providing technical guidance to other maintenance personnel.

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable gaming industry regulations.

  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.

  •  Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, humid, cold, dry, indoor, and outdoor locations.

  • Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.

Qualifications

  • The ability to obtain and maintain any licenses required by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) and the casino.

  • Technical or Trade School certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and repair.

  • Valid EPA Universal (608) Certification.

  • Valid Journeyman HVAC License.

  • Experience troubleshooting HVAC systems and commercial refrigeration rack systems.

  • Working knowledge of:

  • HVAC and refrigeration systems

  • Electrical distribution systems

  • Plumbing systems

  • Boilers and chillers

  • Emergency power and UPS systems

  • Pumps, motors, and VFDs

  • Life Safety Systems

  • Building Automation and Energy Management Systems

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills with experience using maintenance management software (CMMS).

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments.

    Preferred

  • Experience in a casino, hotel, resort, entertainment, or other large commercial facility environment.

  • Experience with Metasys Energy Management Systems.

Hourly rate: $35.00 to $45.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
