About this role
The Catering Sales Coordinator is responsible for the successful sales and booking of large parties, banquets, events, and groups at Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino. Position oversees all aspects of event coordination including contract and event management, maintaining relationships with rental & decor vendors, and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate activities involving sales of events for Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino.
- Control all room blocks and maximize space for profitability.
- Consult with department heads to plan for events.
- Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
- Coordinate with the Banquet Supervisor to coordinate and review events.
- Display, Coach and Maintain standards of kitchen sanitation and cleanliness, as well as the safe handling of food products for guest’s consumption.
- Communicate on a consistent basis with upper management keeping them aware of all department activities.
- Responsible for attaining budgeted catering revenues, maximizing room rental income, attaining full menu pricing and upsell of Food and Beverage.
- Develop outside vendors, as preferred vendors, with partnership revenues.
- Developing all BEO’s, change sheets, 14 day forecasts and guarantee sheets.
- Possess the ability to work with co-workers in any kitchen environment and display, coach, mentor others’ behavior to ensure guests receive highest quality products and service at Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (GED) required, College Degree preferred, with 1 (one) year experience in the Food Service or Hospitality Industry in Group Sales or similar position.
- Requires the ability to successfully set up and run events with basic knowledge of catering procedures, wine, spirit and food pairing,
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, math, basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, time management, and organization.
- Ability to understand Profit & Loss Statements, the ability to measure, estimate, and multi task, and be detail oriented.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills.
- Position requires employee to be at least 21 years of age, and be certified in Serve Safe Food Sanitation, Serve Safe Alcohol Awareness, and Indiana State approve Alcohol Training. Hold an Indiana ATC (Alcohol & Tobacco Commission) License, as well as the ability to successfully attain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission license
- Position requires scheduling flexibility, may be required to work weekends, holidays, overnight, or overtime.
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude, and the ability to deal effectively with guests, management, employees and outside contacts.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Requirements also include frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing steps and sitting.
- Must have the manual dexterity to cut, slice, whisk, grab, grip, type, pull, hold, tear, sort, and reach.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino is a smoking establishment
- Must be able to work in a highly populated fast-paced and noisy environment.
- Must be able to demonstrate and ensure that daily work performed is conducted within HACCP guidelines.
- Required to comply with safe and hazard free work environment practices stipulated in, Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing and Casino, County/State/Federal Department of Health and OSHA policies, procedures and regulations.
