The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a SME Exchange Engineer for the Global Mission Operations Support (GMOS) contract, supporting the Department of State. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance national security through advanced IT solutions. You will collaborate with experienced professionals in an innovative environment, guiding a high-performing team to deliver excellence. The GMOS contract aims to provide world-class IT support by modernizing and maintaining applications and infrastructure using an integrated IT Service Management approach. Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and management leadership for Microsoft Exchange service upgrades, enhancements, and modernization initiatives across the global enterprise

  • Direct operations and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange clusters (2019 or later) in data center facilities, ensuring high availability and optimal performance

  • Establish Exchange server operations strategy at domestic Consular facilities, ensuring alignment with modern email and collaboration technologies and mission requirements

  • Direct coordination with DT via DT/EA/CST, ensuring all Exchange implementations conform to Department of State requirements, security standards, and infrastructure specifications

  • Establish enterprise backup service strategy for Exchange servers and systems, including off-site redundant backup storage and disaster recovery capabilities

  • Establish enterprise DHCP management strategy supporting Exchange network configurations across 350+ global facilities, ensuring consistent addressing and DNS integration

  • Direct server and storage filer infrastructure strategy supporting Exchange operations, including capacity planning, performance optimization, and hardware lifecycle management

  • Excel in DevSecOps tooling (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, SonarQube) and design and construct CI/CD pipelines with extensive experience automating continuous build, test, security validation, results collection, and success/failure analysis

  • Provide technical and management leadership on major assignments, establishing strategic goals and plans that meet project objectives while directing activities with overall responsibility for financial management, methodology selection, and staffing decisions

  • Serve as the principal technical advisor on Exchange architecture, email security, and collaboration platform modernization to senior leadership and stakeholders

Qualifications:

Required –

  • Bachelor's degree + 13 years of experience in related fields, such as Microsoft Exchange administration, email systems engineering, messaging infrastructure, collaboration platforms, or systems administration; equivalencies considered.

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 or later, including cluster management, high availability configurations, and enterprise-scale deployments

  • Demonstrated expertise in DevSecOps tooling and CI/CD pipeline development, particularly with Ansible, Terraform, and automated security validation tools

  • Strong leadership abilities with proven experience directing technical teams, managing project budgets, and making strategic staffing and resource allocation decisions

  • Excellent knowledge of email security, backup and recovery strategies, and integration with Active Directory and DNS infrastructure

Desired –

  • Prior experience supporting federal agencies, especially the Department of State

  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Exchange Server Expert, MCSE: Messaging, or relevant Azure/Microsoft 365 certifications

  • Experience with hybrid Exchange environments, cloud migration strategies, and Microsoft 365 integration

  • Knowledge of federal compliance requirements including FISMA, NIST frameworks, and Department of State security policies

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$120,800 - $265,800
