About this role

Joint Munitions & Explosives Safety Staff Specialist

The Opportunity:

As a Joint Munitions & Explosives Safety Staff Specialist, you will help shape the theater’s munitions posture by advancing munitions infrastructure planning, strengthening coordination with Allies and Partners, and driving explosives safety compliance across forward and prepositioned locations. You’ll assess hardened storage, standoff, and siting shortfalls across the theater and work with U.S., Allied, and Partner nations—alongside Allied Commands—to align infrastructure gaps with various investment pathways.

You’ll apply U.S. and Allied explosives safety criteria to guide facility design, quantity‑distance analyses, and risk‑informed decisions that underpin safe and resilient munitions operations. Your expertise will also reinforce theater logistics planning by synchronizing distribution requirements with operational timelines, analyzing Service Component inputs for the Munitions Requirements Process (MRP), and developing technical justification packages for co‑funded infrastructure efforts.

This role also contributes directly to operational planning by refining munitions inputs in formal plans, coordinating cross‑component actions and approval workflows, and ensuring visibility of critical munitions stocks across joint inventories. You’ll strengthen explosives safety governance by preparing and reviewing DARADs, validating NEW and QD arcs for staging and forward locations, and helping identify and mitigate emerging risks across the theater.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in munitions or facilities civil engineering
  • Ability to work in Germany without sponsorship
  • Active passport with at least 6 months validity for the purposes of visa applications
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience in Joint Headquarters, Service component command, or Theater Sustainment Command environments such as CCMD, Joint Staff, or JTF
  • Experience as a service‑level munitions officer or senior NCO
  • Experience with ammunition storage standards
  • Knowledge of Joint Planning Process and munitions accounting structures
  • Ability to conduct hazard reviews, risk analyses, and communicate technical findings clearly
  • Completion of Defense Explosives Safety course AMMO‑33/63/76 or Service equivalent
