About the Role
POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Generation Associate (or Temp) supports revenue growth by researching prospective businesses that may use music and creating qualified opportunities for BMI’s Licensing Sales team.
The role uses online sources to evaluate businesses, identify contact and ownership information, assess indicators of music use, confirm the business is not already represented in BMI’s systems, and document findings in Salesforce. This is primarily an online research and data-entry role, not a sales or customer account-management position.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
- Research prospective businesses using search engines, business directories, company websites, social media, public records, and other approved sources.
- Review provided lead lists and independently search for businesses that may publicly perform music.
- Identify indicators of recorded music, live music, DJs, dancing, entertainment, or other music-related programming.
- Research business details, including operating status, ownership, location, business type, and available contact information.
- Confirm whether prospective businesses are already licensed, under review, or represented in BMI’s systems.
- Apply established criteria to determine whether a business qualifies as a sales opportunity.
- Create and update opportunities in Salesforce with complete and accurate research.
- Review records for accuracy, duplication, and completeness before submission.
- Meet established productivity and quality expectations.
- Escalate unclear findings, system issues, or qualification questions to team leadership.
- Participate in training, coaching, and quality-review activities.
- Support special research projects and lead-generation campaigns as assigned.
- Protect confidential and proprietary information.

Position Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience, preferred.
Experience
- Experience with online research, data entry, database maintenance, lead generation, sales support, or similar work preferred.
- Experience using Salesforce or another customer relationship management system is helpful but not required.
- Experience working within defined productivity and quality expectations is preferred.

Tools and Equipment
BMI will provide the computer equipment and system access required to perform the role. The position will use Salesforce, online research tools, business directories, and standard collaboration software.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily through a computer in an office or approved remote-work environment.
- The role requires sustained online research, data entry, and review of detailed information.
- The position may require collaboration with team members in different locations or time zones.
