Position:              Sr. Staff Platform Engineer (Job Code: 91354)           

 

Duties:                 Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud platform infrastructure. Collaborate with software engineers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications. Programmatically implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes. Develop and maintain automation tools to enhance productivity and efficiency. Guide the design and implementation of reusable tools and processes to support the testing and deployment of software. Implement and maintain continuous integration and delivery pipelines, monitoring and alerting systems, and deployment tools. Apply extensive knowledge of platform engineering principles and advanced techniques to manage the timely resolution of unprecedented issues. Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability. Develop and enforce security best practices to protect platform integrity and data. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to platform infrastructure. Communicate with senior stakeholders within the enterprise on matters that require explanation, interpretation, and/or advice; typically has responsibility for communicating to parties outside of the organization. Work to influence parties within the enterprise to agree and accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Articulate problem statements, size opportunities, and bring substantive ideas to leadership on how to improve the organization and platform direction. Mentor and coach other team members to be more effective. Show initiative and independently execute process improvements for the team. Drive architectural changes for platform features. Provide 24x7 support for critical platform issues and participate in on-call rotations. Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.

 

Education

Required:             Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Information Systems or related field.

 

Experience

Required:             5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Software Engineer, or related occupation.

 

Special

Requirements:     Must have at least 5 years of prior work experience in each of the following:

  • Programmatic configuration of AWS Service Catalog using AWS Cloudformation with automated creation and periodic update of standard products utilizing Git/Bitbucket repository for source control and Jenkins pipeline for deployments. Collaborate with multiple engineering teams in adopting automated use of standardized processes and tools to build and deploy code to target AWS accounts and environments, working as subject matter expert to resolve configuration and deployment issues faced by development teams in using AWS cloud environments in an automated way.
  • Programmatic governance of AWS accounts and environments using AWS Security Control Policies (SCP), AWS Config, and AWS Lambda services.
  • Managing AWS IAM roles and permissions utilizing source control in GIT/Bitbucket for all AWS Accounts under AWS Organizations consolidation, where all creations and updates are code managed and deployed via Jenkins pipeline.
  • Develop detailed AWS Cloudformation templates to automate creation and update of all AWS platform deployments that incorporate conditional statements to manage diverse environments. Deploy templates via Jenkins deployment pipelines utilizing secure roles with specific access permissions, perform testing and validation of iterative configurations to ensure successful configurations.
  • Supporting containerizing of application microservices using Docker and creating code-controlled mechanisms to upgrade EKS clusters and their components without application downtime, achieve best practices in both horizontal and vertical scaling policies.
  • Providing on-call support and engage with AWS technical teams to identify and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
  • Programmatically identifying waste in AWS accounts and creating context and execution strategy for optimizing costs while enhancing reliability and availability of platforms.
    • Position permits telecommuting. Applicant may reside anywhere in U.S. and reports to Pleasanton, CA office.

     

    Salary:                 $175,000 to $197,690 per year
