Overview

An exceptional Private Travelling Valet / Wardrobe Specialist is required to support a UHNW couple with a highly international lifestyle.

This is a specialist, hands-on position with a strong focus on wardrobe management, luxury garment care, pressing, laundry, packing and unpacking, particularly the care and presentation of the male Principal's extensive wardrobe.

The family travels frequently and their future permanent base is currently flexible. The successful candidate must therefore be genuinely comfortable with an international lifestyle and happy to travel extensively rather than being tied to one particular location.

The title of the candidate's previous positions is less important than their technical ability and genuine hands-on experience. Applications are welcomed from accomplished Valets, Private Butlers, Wardrobe Specialists, Housekeeper/Laundresses and similarly experienced private household professionals who can demonstrate exceptional wardrobe and garment-care expertise.

This is not primarily a formal service Butler position. The family does not entertain extensively and already employs other household staff. The priority is finding someone meticulous, calm and highly experienced who can take genuine ownership of the Principals' clothing, wardrobes and personal effects wherever they are in the world.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring that the Principals' clothing, wardrobes, footwear, accessories and travel requirements are consistently maintained to an exceptional standard.

Particular expertise is required in men's luxury clothing, including dress shirts, suits, silk shirts and delicate or high-value fabrics.

The role is extremely hands-on. Depending upon the family's location and household set-up, there may be periods when a significant proportion of the working day is spent on laundry, pressing and garment care. The successful candidate must genuinely enjoy this work and take pride in achieving an immaculate result.

At other times, responsibilities will include wardrobe organisation, packing and unpacking, preparing clothing for travel and daily use, maintaining shoes and accessories and ensuring that everything remains organised as the family moves between locations.

Wardrobe, Laundry & Valeting

  • Take primary responsibility for the presentation and day-to-day care of the Principals' wardrobes.
  • Provide exceptional pressing and finishing, with particular expertise in men's dress shirts, suits and silk shirts.
  • Confidently handle luxury, delicate and specialist fabrics.
  • Undertake hands-on laundry and garment care when required.
  • Understand appropriate care of high-value footwear, leather goods and specialist/exotic skins.
  • Ensure clothing is correctly cleaned, pressed, steamed, presented and ready for wear.
  • Maintain wardrobes to an immaculate and logical standard.
  • Organise clothing, accessories and personal items efficiently.
  • Monitor garment condition and arrange specialist cleaning, repair or maintenance where appropriate.
  • Work alongside Housekeepers and other household staff where applicable while retaining responsibility for the Principals' wardrobe standards.

Travel, Packing & Unpacking

  • Travel extensively with the Principals internationally.
  • Pack and unpack wardrobes to an exceptional standard.
  • Plan and prepare clothing and accessories appropriately for different destinations, climates and occasions.
  • Protect delicate and valuable garments during travel.
  • Maintain organisation and continuity as the family moves between residences, hotels and other accommodation.
  • Ensure clothing and personal effects are accounted for and correctly stored at each destination.
  • Adapt calmly to changing itineraries and short-notice travel.

Additional Private Service Duties

Although wardrobe and valeting responsibilities are the core of the position, the successful candidate should understand the standards expected within a sophisticated private household.

They should be comfortable assisting with duties such as:

  • Setting and preparing a table correctly.
  • Providing discreet personal service when required.
  • Working collaboratively with Housekeepers, Chefs, PAs, Chauffeurs and other household staff.
  • Supporting the smooth running of the Principals' immediate environment.
  • Assisting practically where required rather than being restricted by job title.

Formal food and beverage service is not the principal focus of this position.

Requirements

The family is particularly interested in finding someone mature, calm, discreet and professionally settled.

This is not a position for someone attracted primarily by international travel or the possibility of living in Dubai. The successful candidate should genuinely enjoy their profession and take satisfaction in quietly maintaining exceptional standards.

They should be someone who:

  • Takes ownership of their responsibilities without requiring constant direction.
  • Is meticulous and does not cut corners.
  • Works calmly rather than rushing.
  • Is discreet and understands professional boundaries.
  • Is naturally quiet and self-contained while remaining warm, polite and professional.
  • Avoids household gossip and unnecessary drama.
  • Is comfortable concentrating on detailed and sometimes repetitive work for extended periods.
  • Has a stable employment history and is seeking a long-term position.
  • Understands that working days and days off may change according to international travel.
  • Is flexible without being unsettled by changing locations and plans.

The family values stability and longevity and would particularly welcome candidates who have demonstrated long tenures in previous private household positions.

Requirements

  • Minimum approximately 5 years' relevant private household experience.
  • Demonstrable high-level experience in wardrobe care, valeting, laundry and professional pressing.
  • Particularly strong knowledge of men's luxury clothing, including shirts, suits and silk.
  • Experience caring for delicate fabrics, luxury footwear, leather goods and specialist materials.
  • Excellent packing and unpacking skills.
  • Previous experience travelling with a Principal or working between multiple residences is strongly preferred.
  • Experience within UHNW, Royal or similarly high-standard private households advantageous.
  • Some knowledge of traditional private service and table setting.
  • Excellent discretion and confidentiality.
  • Calm, mature and highly professional approach.
  • Strong employment history and excellent references.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally at short notice.
  • Appropriate passport/visa status to facilitate extensive international travel.
