About this role

The Staff Accountant will provide support to the Assistant Controller, Controllers, and Operations in month-end closing for KIB, balance sheet reconciliations, and special projects.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review financial data for KIB to ensure that charges are correctly distributed and process required journal entries for the areas of assigned responsibility
  • Provide assistance to Operations in understanding and implementing procedures.
  • Perform assigned balance sheet reconciliations to identify and resolve variances.
  • Prepare support schedules to the financial statements and maintain assigned internal team schedules for status tracking such as the accrual schedule and month-end schedule
  • Assist with preparation of standard and non-standard journal entries as a part of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures, including accruals, account re-classes and prepayments.
  • Ensure that all assigned financial deadlines are met for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
  • Assist in the combining and distribution of preliminary financial statements.
  • Apply critical and in-depth analysis while reviewing account balances to identify, communicate, and address anomalies or outliers
  • Produce analytical reports such as cost reports, variance analysis as requested by your designated finance leaders.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with IFRS & GAAP standards when applicable as well as company policies & procedures
  • Participate in review of financial statements with the Business Partners when requested.
  • Perform research as required to provide financial analysis to Business Partners, Assistant Controller, Controller, and Sr. Director of Finance.
  • Assist in the onboarding and implementation of ERP or other accounting software systems as requested.
  • Assist team leaders in team/department cross-training efforts as well as training of new incoming staff and, if needed, training of business partners.


Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or enrollment and 50% completion of a Bachelor's degree program at an accredited institution and three years' experience in a similar position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Sound knowledge of JDEdwards application.
