Description:

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for executing and coordinating daily domestic and international transportation activities to support the timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of finished goods, raw materials, packaging components, equipment, and other company materials. This position coordinates shipment planning, carrier communications, shipment tracking, documentation, freight invoice auditing, and claims administration while working closely with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouses, customer service, and internal stakeholders. This Transportation Coordinator follows established transportation processes, resolves routine transportation issues, and escalates complex operational or compliance concerns to Transportation leadership.


Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and schedule domestic and international shipments to support business requirements while ensuring timely, compliant, and cost-effective transportation services.
  • Track, monitor, and communicate shipment status; proactively identify delays, service disruptions, shortages, or delivery issues and coordinate resolution with carriers and internal stakeholders.
  • Obtain transportation quotes, evaluate available capacity options, and coordinate carrier assignments utilizing approved transportation providers and established procedures.
  • Manage shipment documentation and coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and consignees to support successful domestic, import and export activities.
  • Audit and verify freight invoices for accuracy, contracted rates, accessorial charges, and supporting documentation; resolve billing discrepancies with carriers when necessary.
  • Process, document, and track freight claims involving loss, damage, shortages, or service failures; maintain claim records and communicate status through resolution.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, shipment documentation, carrier compliance files, and transportation management system data.
  • Prepare transportation reports, performance metrics, and operational updates for leadership review.
  • Support transportation, inventory, customer service, warehouse, procurement, and other cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable transportation, safety, environmental, hazardous materials, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support transportation system enhancements, testing, process improvements, and special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School or GED Diploma - Required

Experience:

  • 3 years or more in Administrative / Office / Customer Service experience
  • 3 years or more in Logistics / Warehouse / Distribution expereince

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Experience with JD Edwards preferred
