About this role

The Mechanical Engineer designs, modifies and evaluates mechanical components for both Research and Development (R & D) and sustaining production. May coordinate the efforts of drafters, application engineers and machine shop personnel as needed.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Apply engineering principles to conduct routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes.
  • Write test procedures, compile, and evaluate design & test data and prepare technical specifications.
  • Recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes.
  • Evaluate non-conformances in production to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Contributes to project planning, including estimating effort and cost, prioritizing/ordering tasks.
  • Provide technical clarification about product function, acceptable modifications, and limitations to sales groups and customers.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement, both for products and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 4 or more years of experience in designing mechanical components/systems for industrial applications.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software to design mechanical parts, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3 and BPVC Code construction preferred.
  • Experience with common measurement instruments.
  • Experience with product development and product life cycle preferred.
