JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Upholstery Lead
DEPARTMENT: Upholstery
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Plant 5 - Conover, N.C.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM & Friday 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Overtime may be required beyond the posted work schedule and/or a varied schedule may be required per business needs
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Upholstery , the Upholstery Lead oversees the Insider and Trimmers of Upholstery to ensure production flow, quality, and efficiency levels meet company expectations. Additionally, the Lead works with the Manager to handle personnel and performance issues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directing the Upholstery (inside/trim) associates
- Answering questions from Upholstery (inside/trim) associates on various issues from quality, efficiency, procedure, training, and production/workflow
- Leading and instructing the Upholstery team so tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Managing Upholstery department attendance and filling in when necessary to. Assisting as needed in the Upholstery (inside/trim) areas to help with production flow
- Maintaining safety, quality and machinery standards at all times
- All other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Upholstery (inside and outside) Knowledge (2+ years preferred)
- LEAN manufacturing a plus
- Lead/Supervisory role experience a plus
- Effective communication skills (taking notes, retention of information & instructions, able to communicate in person and via email, phone)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to work full-time
EFFORT
- Able to lift/carry/push/pull at least 50 lbs.
- Able to stand for 10 hours daily
- Must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs to access and move between departments.
