Position Summary

The Equipment Maintenance Technician (Tool) plays a key role in supporting production operations by installing, setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting molding and injection molding equipment.
This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production through effective mold changeovers, machine setup, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement activities. The successful candidate will help drive operational excellence while maintaining Amcor's commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Mold Installation and Changeovers
- Safely install, remove, and secure injection molds in production equipment.
- Align, adjust, and verify mold configurations using setup documentation and production specifications.
- Execute mold changeovers efficiently to minimize downtime and support production schedules.
- Verify proper connections of cooling systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and auxiliary equipment.
- Ensure molds and tooling are handled in accordance with established safety procedures.
Machine Setup and Operation
- Set up injection molding equipment, including mold installation, material loading, and machine calibration.
- Adjust machine settings and process parameters to achieve optimal performance and product quality.
- Monitor equipment performance during production and make necessary adjustments.
- Support production teams to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving molds, molding equipment, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on molds and production equipment.
- Support preventive maintenance activities in partnership with the Maintenance team.
- Investigate recurring equipment or process issues and assist with root cause analysis.
- Escalate complex issues appropriately to minimize downtime.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct first-piece inspections to verify conformance to quality standards and specifications.
- Make machine or process adjustments when quality concerns are identified.
- Accurately document and communicate defects, tooling concerns, or process deviations.
- Support corrective and preventive actions related to quality performance.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all Amcor safety policies, procedures, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.
- Promote a safe, organized, and clean work environment through strong housekeeping practices.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and potential hazards.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve operational challenges.
- Share ideas and recommendations that support plant performance and employee success.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in injection molding, tooling, manufacturing maintenance, or a related technical field.
- Experience performing mold changes, machine setups, or equipment adjustments.
- Hands-on experience using mechanical tools and mold handling equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret setup sheets, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, including LOTO and PPE requirements.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Mold Technician, Tooling Technician, Setup Technician, Process Technician, or similar role.
- Knowledge of injection molding processes and equipment.
- Understanding of mold construction and tooling components.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and temperature control systems.
- Experience with quality inspection tools and documentation systems.
- Experience troubleshooting production, equipment, or process-related issues.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and climbing.
- Ability to manipulate small parts and tools requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Occasional work in confined or awkward spaces while servicing equipment.
Sensory Requirements
- Visual ability to inspect products, review documentation, read gauges, and identify defects.
- Hearing ability sufficient to recognize alarms, equipment sounds, and verbal communication in a manufacturing environment.

- Ability to maintain focus and attention while working around operating machinery.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond appropriately to changing production requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
Manufacturing Environment
- Work is performed primarily on the production floor around injection molding equipment and related systems.
- Exposure to moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
- Exposure to hot surfaces, heated molds, moving mechanical equipment, and manufacturing materials.
- Work may involve proximity to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Temperatures may vary throughout the facility depending on equipment operation and seasonal conditions.
Safety Requirements
- Required use of safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE as necessary.
- Strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all safety policies.
- Regular use of hoists, cranes, and lifting equipment for mold movement and installation.
Schedule Expectations
- Position may require shift work, weekends, holidays, or overtime based on business needs.
- Availability to respond to operational issues during scheduled shifts.
- Flexibility to support production schedules and maintenance priorities.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $46.00 per hour. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant skills, demonstrated proficiency through assessment testing, related experience, education, certifications, and overall qualifications.
