Spring Mountain Treatment Center is a 110-bed mental health facility providing acute crisis stabilization services for adults, teens, and children in a secure inpatient setting since 2001. Our individualized treatment includes a structured, therapeutic environment, intensive physician involvement and oversight, and daily group and educational programs. Spring Mountain Treatment Center is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a PRN Dietary Cook. Under the supervision of the Manager of Dietary Services, prepares, seasons, and cooks food for the hospital patients, employees, and visitors. As our Cook, you must remember that meals are three of our patients' most important time of the day; cooks will prepare and serve food in accordance with menus, diet specifications, and sanitary practices. Presentation and customer service skills are key.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews menus to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared
  • Plans cooking schedule in conjunction with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure that food will be ready at specified times.  Confers with dietitian /supervisor regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
  • Prepares or supervises washing, trimming, cooking, and seasoning of food items for each meal
  • Maintains cooking area in a clean, neat and orderly manner
  • Provides assistance on the line such as tray set-up, salad preparation, etc.
  • Serves meals in pleasant manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Current Food Handler's Card
  • Minimum two years’ experience in the kitchen, in a psychiatric/patient care setting preferred
  • Must consistently maintain a safe and clean working environment, following both Spring Mountain and the State Of Nevada Policy and Procedures
  • Ability to assess food and supply items relative to daily scheduled menus, as well as, for special events and/or activities
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
  • Must successfully pass background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check) and drug screen
