Job Title: Product Manager- Embedded Computing, Edge AI & Video Platforms
Location(s): Tustin, CA - Onsite
Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000

About this position:

Advantech is seeking a Product Manager to manage embedded computing products and customer-driven hardware development programs across multiple industries and applications. This role is suited for someone with experience in product management, project management, product engineering, or New Product Introduction (NPI) who enjoys working closely with engineering teams and customers to bring new hardware products from concept through production. A key focus of this position will be supporting Advantech's carrier board and embedded platform development initiatives. You will work with engineering teams and other Product Managers to identify common platform requirements and manage new carrier board solutions supporting applications such as Edge AI, robotics, machine vision, medical equipment, industrial automation, video/imaging, and other embedded systems.

The successful candidate will understand technical product development and be able to effectively coordinate between engineering, customers, and business teams. You do not need to be the engineer designing the hardware; however, you should be able to understand the technical work being performed, ask relevant questions, identify project risks, translate customer requirements into actionable product requirements, and keep cross-functional development activities moving forward.

You will work across the full product development lifecycle, from customer and market requirements through product definition, engineering development, validation, New Product Introduction (NPI), production, and ongoing product lifecycle management. You will help ensure that Advantech develops embedded platforms that meet customer requirements while also identifying opportunities for reuse, standardization, and scalability across multiple products, applications, and vertical markets.
Success in this role requires strong project management, organization, technical understanding, and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage embedded hardware and market-driven product development projects from initial planning through development, production, and ongoing product lifecycle support.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and technical support teams to coordinate product development activities.
  • Gather customer and market requirements and translate them into clear product requirements and technical specifications.
  • Support development of carrier boards and embedded computing platforms for multiple applications and vertical markets.
  • Coordinate the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including requirements definition, design reviews, prototypes, validation, production readiness, and product launch.
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, technical dependencies, risks, and cross-functional action items.
  • Work with customers and technology partners to understand system-level requirements and recommend appropriate embedded computing solutions.
  • Collaborate with other Product Managers to identify opportunities to reuse or standardize platform designs across different customer applications.
  • Support engineering changes (ECN), product updates, pricing, cost management, supply-chain issues, and product lifecycle activities.
  • Evaluate new technologies, market trends, competitive products, and customer feedback to support future product and platform roadmaps.
  • Prepare customer presentations, product specifications, quotations, proposals, and RFQ/RFP responses.
  • Utilize ERP and product management systems, including SAP, to manage product information and operational workflows.
  • Represent Advantech during customer meetings, partner discussions, trade shows, and industry events. Periodic travel is required.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of experience in product management, project/program management, product engineering, NPI, or a similar technical role within the electronics, embedded computing, industrial computing, or related technology industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Candidates with other degrees and relevant technical product experience will also be considered.
  • Experience participating in or managing hardware product development and/or New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Ability to understand and discuss system architecture, hardware interfaces, and technical requirements with engineering teams.
  • Experience coordinating projects across multiple functions such as engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and customers.
  • Ability to translate customer and application requirements into actionable product requirements.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate product requirements, project status, risks, and technical information clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
  • Embedded computing, industrial computing, carrier boards, motherboards, SOM/COM platforms, or custom electronics.
  • Hardware development processes including requirements, design, prototype, validation, NPI, production, and lifecycle management.
  • Embedded processor platforms including Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, ARM, FPGA, or similar technologies.
  • Common embedded interfaces and technologies such as PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DisplayPort/HDMI, MIPI, CAN, NVMe, memory, storage, and high-speed I/O.
  • Edge AI or computing platforms involving CPU, GPU, NPU, or FPGA acceleration.
  • Applications include machine vision, robotics, medical equipment, industrial automation, video/imaging, transportation, defense, semiconductor equipment, or smart infrastructure.
  • Experience working directly with customers on custom product requirements or technical proposals.
  • ERP/PLM systems; SAP experience is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with geographically distributed engineering, manufacturing, or product teams.
