The Position:


The Lead Electronics Technician performs complex installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all wiring, avionics systems, and subsystems. 


This role involves installing, testing, repairing, removing, and replacing aircraft instrument and avionics components across various airframes using hand tools, ground support equipment, test equipment, and technical documents.


As a senior technician, you will apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals, blueprints, and schematics. 


You will prioritize workloads to maintain project schedules, perform critical quality and safety inspections, and provide leadership, guidance, and training to lower-level technicians throughout all maintenance and modification efforts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Depot-level aircraft maintenance, including inspection, operational testing, repair, and modification of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex discrepancies in avionics/electrical systems and subsystems; perform advanced rewiring and modifications.
  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, or repair specialized avionics equipment, including radar, navigation, and missile control systems.
  • Utilize blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and manufacturers' documentation to guide repair and installation processes.
  • Operate common test instruments, including digital multi-meters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and specialized ground support equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and instruction to lower-level technicians during modification and maintenance efforts.
  • Conduct quality and safety inspections, ensuring compliance with all aviation standards and completing maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Manage and prioritize workloads to hit project milestones; work various shifts and travel as required to meet customer needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the aviation avionics field.
  • At least 8 years of specific experience with rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Minimum of 4 years of Depot-level modification and maintenance experience.
  • Associate degree, OR an additional 2 years of direct experience (14 years total in lieu of a degree).

 

Certifications & Technical Compliance:

  • Must have held a prior Quality Assurance designation.
  • Must be skilled/qualified in Naval Aircraft Maintenance (or an equivalent skill designation from other military branches) OR possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Industrial Security Clearance and a Common Access Card (CAC).

 

Technical & Physical Requirements:

  • Advanced expertise in aircraft electrical/avionics systems, including their operational capabilities and limitations.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, special tools, and test equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory drug screening and a "fit for work" physical examination.
  • Requirement to provide your own basic hand tools.
