The Role
The Behavioral Interventionist provides targeted behavioral and engagement support for Graduation Candidates who face barriers to consistent academic participation. This role supports Graduation Candidates in developing the routines, self-management strategies, and consistent participation that make academic progress possible. The Behavioral Interventionist works alongside academy instructional and support staff, using student attendance, engagement, and performance data to identify needs and adjust support.
This is a temporary, part-time position funded by the Title I grant for the 2026-27 academic year, September 2026 through June 2027, onsite at Santa Rosa Acceleration Academy. Continuation of this position beyond June 2027 is contingent on Title I grant funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted behavioral and engagement intervention for Graduation Candidates experiencing barriers to consistent academic participation.
- Support Graduation Candidates in developing routines, self-management strategies, and behaviors that promote successful participation in the academy program.
- Collaborate with academy staff to identify Graduation Candidates needing additional behavioral or engagement support and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
- Provide individual and small-group support focused on re-engagement, attendance, persistence, and positive school participation.
- Use student attendance, engagement, and performance data to identify needs and adjust intervention support.
- Monitor and communicate student progress toward course completion with the Graduation Candidate support team.
- Document intervention activities and student progress to support Title I program monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Participate in data meetings, professional development, and academy events as scheduled.
Desired Attributes
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience providing behavioral support, mentoring, or intervention with adolescents or young adults
- Experience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settings preferred
- Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies, restorative practices, or trauma-informed approaches
- Ability to interpret student data and adjust support accordingly
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Comfort with educational technology tools and platforms

- Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
- Work in a collaborative classroom or office setting and may involve exposure to outdoor weather during events
