About this role

The Mailroom Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely receipt, processing, sorting, tracking, and distribution of non-production-related mail and packages throughout the facility. This position serves as a key point of contact for incoming deliveries and ensures packages and USPS mail are properly documented and delivered to the appropriate departments or employees.

Pay: $17.00

The pay listed is the hourly rate for this position.  A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming non-production-related packages and deliveries. 
  • Sort and distribute incoming USPS mail to the appropriate departments, employees, or designated locations. 
  • Utilize the facility's package tracking system to log incoming and outgoing packages, update delivery status, and maintain accurate records. 
  • Verify package information and ensure deliveries are routed to the correct recipient. 
  • Notify employees or departments when packages are received. 
  • Maintain organized records of package receipts, deliveries, and other mailroom activities.

 • Assist with outgoing mail and packages, including preparing items for shipment when required. 

  • Monitor and maintain an organized and clean mailroom area. 
  • Communicate effectively with employees, vendors, delivery personnel, and management. 
  • Address package or mail discrepancies and escalate issues when necessary. 
  • Follow all company policies, facility procedures, and applicable safety requirements. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive or business-related correspondence and packages. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Previous mailroom, shipping/receiving, administrative, or customer service experience preferred. 
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and use package tracking and mailroom software. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Professional and courteous interaction with employees, vendors, and delivery personnel. 
  • Ability to safely lift and move packages as required by the position.

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience using package tracking, shipping, receiving, or inventory management systems. 
  • Familiarity with USPS and common parcel delivery services. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic computer or tracking-system issues. 
  • Strong customer-service mindset and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of employees. 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. 
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and/or pull packages and mail. 
  • Ability to safely handle packages of varying sizes and weights. 
  • Ability to work in a warehouse, office, or industrial facility environment as applicable.
