LocumMD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Critical Care

This on-site, contract position offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality, life-saving care to critically ill patients while enjoying the flexibility and variety that locum tenens assignments provide.

As a LocumMD in Critical Care, you will be responsible for managing the care of patients in intensive care units, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering evidence-based treatments in a fast-paced clinical environment. Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to critically ill patients in the ICU and other critical care units.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust therapies based on clinical response and diagnostic results.
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Perform invasive procedures such as central line placement, intubation, and ventilator management as needed.
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team regarding prognoses and treatment options.
• Participate in clinical rounds, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to junior medical staff and residents when applicable.

Requirements

• Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Associate-level experience in critical care, intensive care, or a related acute care setting.
• Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Florida (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine or a related specialty.
• Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and staff.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation systems.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new hospital environments and protocols.

Schedule: Monday-Sunday, 12-hour day shifts

Beeper call required

Setting: 28-bed closed ICU

Support Staff: APP ICU team

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified
