Description



. This is a contract, on-site position offering an Associate-level provider the opportunity to deliver high-quality hospitalist care in a dynamic clinical environment.



As an NP/PA Hospitalist, you will manage and coordinate care for hospitalized patients, perform comprehensive assessments, diagnose and treat acute conditions, and collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and specialists. Your role is essential to maintaining continuity of care and achieving positive patient outcomes across our practice.



Responsibilities



  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical exams for hospitalized patients
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in collaboration with attending physicians
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging studies
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and discharge plans
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and practice guidelines
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members, specialists, nurses, and case managers
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely in EHR systems
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care
  • Respond promptly to patient changes, emergencies, and hospital consults
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols


Requirements



  • Associate-level experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, preferably in hospitalist, acute care, or inpatient medicine
  • Current national certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
  • Active, unrestricted state licensure or ability to obtain licensure in Florida
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and reasoning skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site hospital environment
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of a contract locum tenens assignment


Schedule: 7p-7a



Setting: ~432 beds



Census: 30 inpatients, 1-2 admissions per night



Duties: Cross-coverage and admissions



Support Staff: Physician on back-up call



Must be board-certified



Additional Certifications: DEA
