Description
This on-site, contract position offers a unique opportunity for an associate-level physician to deliver high-quality care within a dedicated medical practice setting.
As a Locum Medical Doctor, you will play an essential role in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions. Working on-site, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care that aligns with the latest clinical standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical guidelines.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory panels, imaging studies, and biopsies.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments as clinically indicated.
- Monitor patient progress, evaluate treatment responses, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and support staff to coordinate multidisciplinary patient care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive medical records in accordance with best practices.
- Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, side effects, and supportive care resources.
- Participate in tumor boards, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all medical protocols, safety regulations, and institutional policies.
- Provide on-call coverage and manage acute patient presentations as required.
- Stay current with advances in hematology and oncology research and integrate evidence-based practices into care.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent medical qualification.
- Board certification or active candidacy in Hematology, Oncology, or Hematology-Oncology.
- Valid medical license in the relevant jurisdiction or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Experience in a clinical setting, with direct exposure to hematology and/or oncology patient care.
- Strong diagnostic, analytical, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard clinical software.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary medical team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical demands and patient needs.
- Current BLS/ACLS certification as required for clinical practice.
Schedule: 8-hour day shifts, 4 days per week
Light call requirement
Setting: Outpatient
Patient Volume: 15+ per day
1 round of consults in the morning and 1 round in the afternoon
Case Mix: 60-70% hematology, 30-40% medical oncology
Support Staff: Additional physicians, RNs, social worker, etc.
EMR: Meditech and Aria
Must be board-certified
