This on-site, contract position is ideal for an associate-level physician looking to make a meaningful impact in the field of mental health care. As a locum tenens provider, you will have the opportunity to deliver essential psychiatric services while enjoying the flexibility of a contract-based career.



In this role, you will be part of a collaborative team within a dynamic medical practice environment, addressing a wide range of psychiatric conditions and contributing to patient wellness. You will provide comprehensive mental health assessments, develop treatment plans, and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standard of care. Your work will directly support the growing need for accessible, high-quality psychiatric services in the Houston area.



Responsibilities



  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adult and adolescent patients
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications with appropriate follow-up
  • Provide psychotherapy and behavioral health counseling services
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records
  • Participate in on-call coverage and emergency psychiatric consultations as required
  • Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions and treatment options
  • Stay current with advances in psychiatric medicine and evidence-based practices
  • Ensure compliance with medical practice standards, legal regulations, and ethical guidelines
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization for patients in acute psychiatric distress


Requirements



  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or active candidacy in Psychiatry
  • Active medical license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one
  • Associate-level experience in psychiatric clinical practice
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in psychopharmacology and evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work on-site in Houston, Texas
  • Willingness to work on a contract basis with flexible scheduling
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, confidentiality, and ethical practice
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems


Schedule: 9p-7a, 5 shifts/month



Setting: Remote

Must be CL and emergency psych trained



Must be board-certified
