Description
This contract, on-site opportunity is ideal for an associate-level physician looking to deliver high-quality, patient-centered gastroenterology care in a well-supported clinical environment.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive gastrointestinal care, including consultations, diagnostic evaluations, and management of a wide range of gastroenterology conditions. As part of a dedicated medical practice, you will work on-site alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical support staff to help ensure continuity of care, improved patient outcomes, and a collegial, professional care environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive gastroenterology consultations and follow-up care for patients in St. Johns County.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures safely and effectivelyirus
- Assess, diagnose, and manage disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based medicine and patient-centered goals.
- Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, and other specialists to coordinate patient care.
- Order and interpret relevant laboratory, imaging, and pathology studies to support accurate diagnosis.
- Document clinical findings, procedures, and treatment plans accuratelyandin a timely manner.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up recommendations.
Coordinate handoffs and follow-up care to ensure continuity throughout the patient's treatment journey.
- Adhere to medical practice policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree; Osteopathic Doctor candidates are eligible to apply.
- Associate-level experience in gastroenterology clinical practice.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Gastroenterology.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and related gastroenterology interventions.
- Strong clinical judgmentand diagnostic decision-making skills.
Excellent patient communicationand interpersonal skills in a medical practice setting.
- Ability to work independentlyand as part of a multidisciplinary clinical teami
- Comfort working on-site in St. Johns County and managing a locum tenens schedule.
Commitment to patient safety, medical ethics, and quality improvement initiatives.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
After-hours call required
Setting: Inpatient
Patient Volume: ~1-5 consults
Support Staff: APPs
EMR: Epic
Must be board-certified
